follow site Have you ever felt embarrassed? I have. Just the other morning, my Mom and I were running around the front yard chasing my soccer ball. I love to run and my Mom tries to keep up with me. Suddenly Mom said, “Bailey let’s go inside for a snack”. Well, anyone who knows me knows I love a good snack so I dropped my soccer ball and ran to the front door waiting for my Mom to open it. However, I was so excited and dancing around so much that I literally fell off the front step into the bushes! Mom yelled, “Bailey, are you okay?” I said, “Sure Mom, I am fine” and jumped back onto the front step. My Mom opened the door and I ran into the kitchen where my Mom spread some peanut butter on my Kong toy and put it on the floor for me to lick. It was so good! I forgot all about falling off the front step into the bushes! (I hope no one saw…..)
http://aarkinc.com/m/ They say that Wheatons like the cold. This morning, I am not so sure about that. My Dad and I usually get up about 6 a.m. each morning for my “business meeting”. This is when I am usually in my deepest sleep. I am not a morning person. This morning, I hear Dad get out of bed and I know what is about to happen. In a very short time he is going to move toward me, sleeping like an “angel” on the floor, and say, “Bailey, let’s go”. There is no use in pretending I am asleep…..I’ve tried that before. He is on to that. So, very slowly I get up and stretch. Dad puts my leash on me (man, he can find that really fast!) before I am done stretching. We walk to the front door and when it opens, I see snow! No one told me it snowed outside! While I don’t love the cold in the morning, I do love playing in the snow. Dad gives me lots of slack in my leash so I can move around a lot. I roll around in the snow – feels so good! I stick my nose deep into the fluffy cold and find the earth beneath – good sniffing there! While I am having fun, Dad’s face is getting red from the cold. I know he will want to go in real soon – he’s awful quiet right now. So, I get down to business and that puts a smile on his face. He says, “Good boy, Bailey! Let’s go inside and get a cookie (my favorite treat!)”. We go inside and Mom is right there holding my cookie. She puts it in my mouth and it falls apart so sweet and tasty in my mouth. Don’t you just love a good treat! More than that, I love when my parents are proud of me. I feel so grown up right now. I love mornings like this!
My niece, Cujo, came to visit yesterday. I love my sister so much, but am trying to get used to her puppy. I love Cujo – she is a tough cookie! However, when she comes to my house, I get jealous of the attention she gets from my parents. And, she acts like my house is hers! We wrestle on the living room floor and my Mom yells at both of us to calm down. But, the truth is, both of us want to have the upper hand. Cujo growls and I chew on her ear, but my Dad gets upset thinking we are hurting each other and we get separated. She gets to stay with my parents and I get put in my crate! Is that fair? My Mom says that Cujo is here for just one night and I must be a good sport about it, but I am mad!!! I have never had a brother or a sister, so it is hard for me to share. I don’t want her touching my toys and I don’t want her eating my food. My Mom is trying to teach me to share, but I don’t want to!
My Mom puts me on my leash and Dad puts Cujo on her leash and we take a long walk. We both do our “business” along the way. This is okay because we do walk the neighborhood well together. But once we get back home, I jump on Cujo, she knocks me to the ground and my Dad says “enough!” Before I know it, I am in my crate and Cujo is in the living room with my parents!
It is a long night – one I usually spend sleeping on my parents’ bedroom floor. But, I spend the night in my crate. The next day, Dad takes me for a walk and fills my bowls with food and water. Before I can blink an eye, there is Cujo drinking from my water bowl and eating my food! Unbelievable!! I try to stay calm. When Mom comes in the room, she picks me up and kisses me. I feel a lot better as she puts me down until Cujo jumps on me and pins me to the ground (did I tell you she is part pitbull and she is very strong?) Once again, I end up in the laundry room with a bowl of food and water and some toys.
Why is it that puppies can’t always get along? I think it is because they love their families and their homes so much that they feel possessive of their environment. Do you ever feel that way? http://finance.thepeer150.com/blog/
Another time, my sister and Cujo, came to spend the night. My sister went out to dinner while my Mom and Dad stayed home with me and Cujo. I was so excited to see her! Well, at first……I soon realized that she was in “my house” playing with “my things” and getting “my Mom’s” attention. I soon didn’t like this at all. We started to run around the house and really play hard and my Mom told us to stop. But Cujo didn’t stop so I didn’t either. Before long, one of us (Cujo) had left a present on the living room rug and one of us (me) got mad at this and relieved myself on Cujo’s bed. Well, now we were both in trouble, but I was the one that got put in my room with the door closed! That didn’t seem right. I barked really loud in protest, but that didn’t get me anywhere. I then cried myself to sleep. I know I had been naughty and hadn’t listened to my parents, but I still wanted my Mom. Luckily, a little while later my sister came home and took Cujo into her bedroom so my parents came and got me. They sat me down in their bedroom and told me that they loved me, but that I had misbehaved and they had no choice but to put me in quiet time. I started to protest, saying that Cujo had been bad too, but they told me that Cujo is not their puppy and they expect more from me. Then they both got down on the floor with me and we had a family hug. My Dad started to rub my tummy and everything seemed to be ok again. I know I have to learn how to get along with other puppies, especially when they come to my house. I am really going to try. I just hope Cujo doesn’t come back too soon…….Maybe, our parents should bring us to a park instead to play. I think we need to play outside our “territory” before either one of us will allow the other space in our homes. I think I will suggest this to Mom and see what she says.
I can’t believe my ears! My Mom just said, “Bailey, let’s go for a ride in the car”. That is my most favorite thing to do. Normally, my Mom goes alone in the car every day to work and I stay home and wait for her. But she is taking me in the car today! Then my Dad says, “I think I will come too”. That makes it even better!
My Mom wraps my harness around me and clips my leash on. I am so excited I get outside and start doing back flips. My Mom says, “Bailey, heel” and I know she wants me to walk just a little slower and without the acrobatics I was just performing. She opens the car door and I jump in. Mom gets in after me and I sit on her lap while Dad drives. What a beautiful, sunny day. Dad drives us around the lake and I am so excited that I keep fidgeting. My Mom finally says, “Bailey, stop sticking your pointy feet into my leg, you are going to give me bruises”. I try to calm down, but I am a Wheaten and can only seem to calm down a little. Before long, my Dad stops the car and my Mom and I get out. We walk over to a cool, grassy area where I do my business. Dad gets out of the car too and the three of us walk for a while. I see a man on his bike and his German Sheppard dog is running beside him. The dog looks over at me as his Dad says, “come along, Rocky” and Rocky just passes by with a nod to me.
The three of us get back in the car and I am feeling tired so I lay down in my Mom’s lap and fall asleep. It is so peaceful just riding with my parents. I am so happy when my family is all together. When I wake up my Dad is stopping the car on our driveway. Mom says, “We’re home” and so I sit up quickly, then jump out when the door opens. Although I have loved my adventure today, I run inside the house and take a few large gulps of my water. When I finish, my Mom hands me my favorite biscuit which I eat very quickly. Then I lie down on the living room floor with my Lamb Chop toy and fall into a deep sleep. So happy and content.
